In this four-channel video installation, Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDC’s) – and their increasingly frequent and lasting presence within our bodies and lives, via food, soil, and water – are the thematic thread
through the scientific practices of four women researchers. The work brings together agricultural policy, toxicology, water quality research, environmental law, and art around the common theme of chemical pollution. Four women researchers from the EU Joint Research Centre and Strathclyde University personally developed and performed the ceremony representing their research. In these rituals, methods from dominant scientific practice are woven with spoken text, movement
and symbolic locations and objects, becoming new tools for knowledge production.

This artistic research ask the questions: How can we live with our chemically altered bodies?

Participants are guided through a series of sound and movement opportunities that probe our embodied interactions and responses to industrial chemicals. Participants are invited to extend their senses, work with the knowledge of the body and use materials as prompts for movement and sound making. The theme of chemical contamination is
transferred across mental, verbal and physical modalities, that help to build new understandings of inescapable toxicities.

The final group output is the collective creation a ritual bringing together the ideas, intentions and actions of the day into a short cohesive performance.

Can we develop new, collective ways of listening to, or sensing rivers? How can we better connect with our local bodies of water?

The All Rivers and Species Act is a collaborative, process driven project exploring the rights of nature and the personhood of a river. The project was developed during the FIBER Reassemble lab 2021, where our diverse group of artists investigated policy texts, AI tools, sound and video making. This exploration resulted in a speculative river policy text, a short sound and video piece and a full day, site specific, participatory experience which explores—through sensing, ceremony and making—the possibilities for understanding bodies of water as living beings rather than as a resource. We use virtual world-building tools with hands on craft techniques to prototype fantastic beings fighting for legal rights of the rivers and bodies of water

This project was developed in the frame of the FIBER Reassemble Lab: Weaving With Worlds and supported by FIBER and Holland Festival.

Vessels for Water is a participatory river encounter at the Panke river Berlin. Picking up on ancient practices of collecting water, handmade objects served as containers for gathering water and stories. These vessels were used to collect water from the river, carefully carry it back to the festival venue, and ritually pour it into a communal glass vessel, where it joined with water collected from other sources.

At various stations along the river we engaged with artistic and performative methods to build intimacies with the river Panke. Through these encounters the group reflected on mutual relationships of care and containment, interdependence, and the watery embodiments of mothering both human and non-human lives.
