Poetically Based Rendering

Sensing Stories of the River – physical and digital

Poetically Based Rendering is a project developed around four water bodies: the Britz canal, the Oder river, the Main and the Peene river.
Through extensive engagement with these sites we gathered sounds, smells, materials and textures through physical and digital sensing tools. This resulted in a methodology for working across physical and digital
modes, translating bodily experiences into digital world building.
Field recordings, weavings, images and 3D scans are processed using digital tools (Photogrammetry/Polycam, Materialize, Blender 3D, Unity), resulting in speculative beings, stories and virtual river worlds.
